Celebrated at the Venice Biennale and with a retrospective exhibition at Tate Modern in London, Zanele Muhole is South Africa’s foremost contemporary artist. They usually use themselves as sitter of their well-known self-portraits, with exotic background, which is clearly in evidence in this photograph with its lush, tropical foliage.
